Commercial Interiors I - Fall 2019
Girls Live Girls Run, Inc.
A classic Dutch windmill is the underlying theme of Girls Live Girls Run, Inc. and its new headquarters. Visually, the windmill is majestic and peaceful, while fundamentally progressive and energetic. Therefore, the aim is to create a space that is comfortable, while also being exciting and conducive to productivity. Representative of the structure, a combination of subtle horizontal and vertical lines in textiles and architecture portray both security and growth. Another trademark of the Dutch landscape is the tulip. Feminine in shape, they provide rich color and are long lasting. Tulips are already embodied in Knoll’s Tulip Chair, connecting my inspiration to my vision. Both the tulip and the windmill are rooted deep in the inspirational scene I imagine. At varying heights, weights, shapes and colors, the entire scene is beautiful because of every individual element. This mirrors GLGR’s mission in teaching, empowering, and including all girls.
